Daisy Foniciello is a multi-disciplinary artist whose work sits at the cross section of printmaking and sculpture. Her work seeks to examine the online transaction of images. She is interested in photos uploaded to online marketplaces; sites such as eBay, Facebook marketplace and Gumtree. Here you can find one-shot takes that will be deleted from camera rolls. They are not sleek, shiny, or overdesigned to maximise marketing. Instead, they feel accidental and unthought through. These images often include the photographers’ shoes or hands, vague backdrops, and items placed at strange angles. She collects these images to build an archive of alternative digital consumerism.

Her practice is grounded in drawing. She draws every image she catalogues, often intuitively forming accumulations that create a fictional space where these objects can sit side by side. Through printmaking she further manipulates these images, considering the layered contexts and adaptions an image undergoes online. How far have these images travelled from the direct experience they portray, and in what contexts have they previously existed? Foniciello expands her drawings into hanging devices, fabricating objects which exist within the parameters of both printmaking and sculpture. She seeks to imitate spontaneity in her work—just as in her catalogued images— inviting the viewer to question the functionality and reality of the objects and spaces she creates.
